There are things about me you wouldn’t understand.
Things you couldn’t understand.
Things you shouldn’t understand.
I’m a loner, Dottie. A rebel.
— Pee-wee Herman

I'm an optimistic pessimist. An outgoing introvert. And — for the better part of 25 years — I've also been a writer. So I'm pretty sure that's what I'll be doing until they nail the lid down on the box.

Advertising has always been part of my world. I spent my early years trying to decide how many licks it took to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop and watching Darrin Stephens bumble his way through sales pitches. By the time I was in fifth grade, I had learned enough to win my first advertising contest. And the die was cast. In a few more years, I had a B.S. in communication and my first real advertising job.

Since then I've been an in-house writer, a senior copywriter for several agencies and even the VP of one. In 2010, I became a partner in an amazing agency that left advertising to make award-winning apps for kids. Ten of those apps earned Parents' Choice Awards. And one storybook app that I wrote briefly outsold the Bible on the iPad, making me a bestselling children's author — and a magnet for lighting strikes.

In 2015, I returned to my first love, creating Steampowered Monkey so I could do what I do best — help great products find their voice. That's my story. If you need help writing yours, drop me a line. I'd be glad to help.
